Celina was from Mountlake Terrace, Washington. Her family called her "the miracle baby," this tiny girl who weighed no more than six cubes of butter when she was born three months premature. Celina Shribbs' beginning months in an incubator at Children's Hospital were long and full of struggle. The little girl had been the "unofficial greeter" on ferries to and from Orcas Island.
Celina was one of three children in Washington who died in January and February of 1993. Her death is connected to contaminated and undercooked meat from the Jack In The Box fast-food restaurant. More than 600 people were sickened, with more than 100 hospitalized.
